I made a bit of a mistake today. I entered an enclosed car park to photograph some graffiti even though I saw a group of about ten people in a corner. I thought that they were a group of tourists on a guided walk of the city but when I started to take some photographs it suddenly became clear that it was a cider party and that they did not appreciate my presence.

I took a bus tour in order to see the murals in Belfast and while I found the murals to be of great interest I found the whole experience to be rather depressing.

Murals in Northern Ireland have become symbols of Northern Ireland, depicting the region’s past and present divisions
Northern Ireland contains arguably the most famous political murals. Almost 2,000 murals have been documented in Northern Ireland since the 1970s. The murals more often than not represent one side’s political point of view.

Not all murals in Northern Ireland are political or religious in nature, with some commemorating events such as the Great Irish Famine (1845–1849), and other moments in Irish history. Many portray events from Irish mythology, though images from Irish myths are often incorporated into political murals. A few murals avoid the subject of Ireland altogether, instead focusing on such neutral subjects as litter prevention.

Over the next few months I plan to visit a number of towns and cities in Ireland.
In May I will visit Belfast, Cork and Limerick.

Today the project kicked off with a visit to Drogheda.

During a visit to any location I check to see if there is any worthwhile street art or graffiti and today I was not disappointed.

According to the locals Drogheda hosts the worlds longest running annual graffiti art event on the undercrofts of the bridge of peace every August.
this event has seen some of the worlds top artists visit the site since the walls were first painted in 1993.

If you are willing to suggest some suitable locations for me to photograph please contact me.

The city of Brussels has had a renowned artist scene for many years. The famous Belgian surrealist René Magritte, for example, studied in Brussels. The city is also a capital of the comic strip; some treasured Belgian characters are Lucky Luke, Tintin, Cubitus, Gaston Lagaffe and Marsupilami. Throughout the city walls are painted with large motifs of comic book characters, and the interiors of some Metro stations are designed by artists.
